Riu Palace Aruba Participates In Aruba's 22nd Reef Care Clean Up
Riu Palace Aruba participated in Aruba's Reef Care Project on Sunday, September 25th, providing a meal and snacks for all the 750 volunteers who helped to clean and protect the island's marine environment.
The 22nd edition of this event was promoted by Aruba Reef Care Foundation, founded in 1994 and originally known as Aruba Underwater Reef Clean-Up, and it took place at Naftali Henriquez Park.
In a continuing effort to give back to the local community, Riu Palace Aruba collaborated providing a full lunch with sandwiches and snacks to all the volunteers and people from the organization as a reward for their hard work and dedication. Keeping with the efforts to reduce the use of plastic, all sandwiches were packaged and wrapped with wax paper.
The volunteers cleaned up both coral reefs and white sand beaches and they were able to collect over twelve large bins of debris and plastic. As a sign of gratitude, each volunteer also received a certificate of appreciation from Aruba's Coral Reef Care Foundation.
"We take great pride in our surrounding environment and community here in Aruba", said Vanessa Fernandez, general manager of Riu Palace Aruba. She also stated that "this is our home, and our guests' 'home away from home', so we will do whatever it takes to help keep Aruba beautiful."
